Artlandish 501(c) (3) exists to bring art to every member of the community.
In the last five years we've offered free after-school dance classes in ballet and Shakespeare with culminating community performances.

"I love the courage it takes to create. I love the process of art making in all of its messy, silly, meticulous, serious, intentional and or accidental, detail oriented or oblivious glory. The expression of some aspect of our humanity in a language not yet written, but emerging in the moment- the moment of creating- this is the sweet spot and something worth pursuing. This benefits young and old, defies demographics of all kinds, and is something that should be accessible to all. This is whe "why" of Artlandish for me.
My years as an art student at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and at the University of Texas at Austin led me to the love of the practice of art making. Practice over product was the guiding principle in my time as a Kindergarten teacher- and this philosophy continues to serve me as VP of Artlandish. "

"Looking around, you can view art in all different forms: from nature, to people, from visual arts, to creative arts. As a dancer, Kristen Orr's love began at age three, starting with ballet and tap, later adding jazz, contemporary, and modern. As a jazz and pointe teacher, during college, she created opportunities for those specifically in pointe class to experience their childhood dream of dancing. She collaborated with churches, creating dance ministries, engaging their own dancers, and traveling to churches to bring the worship of dance into their services. When she became a mother, she passed on the importance of dance, along with the liberal arts —such as Shakespeare, watercolors, and others —to their educational model. As a pastor, I have found that the truth that we are all fearfully and wonderfully made has shaped my vital mission to share dance as an art and worship form with all people. I am honored to partner and serve Artlandish as it “brings art to every member of the community.”
Kristen Orr is a wife to Andrew, a mother of eight children, and an ordained ECO pastor and home educator. She is passionate about passing on her love and technical training in dance to the next generation by continually pointing people to their Creator and Maker.
